Dress on the Colors

Welcome!

Dress on the Colors is a 15mm American Civil War miniature wargame ruleset that we put together as a pure labor of love. We are creating this simply for the fun of the hobby, and we wanted to share our early progress to get your thoughts.

Please note: This ruleset is in the very early stages of development and has had minimal physical playtesting thus far. Because it is an early prototype, we fully expect there to be broken mechanics, loopholes, and rough edges. We are sharing it now because we welcome differing opinions and constructive feedback to help us identify these issues and improve the game system!

Our main design goal was to create a system capable of handling full division-level battles (around 16-20 regiments plus artillery per side). We are hoping that smaller actions will be able to be played in 3 to 4 hours by a group of people once they have learned the rules thoroughly.

We have drawn inspiration from many fantastic ACW rulesets out there, and as you read, you will likely recognize mechanics that we have borrowed from various games. We took elements that we thought would best fit this system and combined them with some potentially new mechanics to create a fast-playing game with minimal chart lookups and dedicated defensive reactions that give the non-active player tactical decisions to make during their opponent's turn. We hope others might enjoy it too, and we would be incredibly grateful for any feedback you would be willing to share!
